A notice about Ghost Blasts development

Hello to anyone who might be interested in Ghost Blast!

I just wanted to provide an update on the state of Ghost Blast.
I have much love for this game but to be straight up with you all, there is not much developed past this demo.
The thing is, beyond the few bits of game maker I toyed with as a kid, I had no precious experience as a game developer. The code for Ghost Blast is so messy that it's nearly impossible to work with at this point.
I would love to pick this project up again, but it would have to be remade from the ground up, and I would like to have more experience, or a team to help me first.

Thank you for your interest in Ghost Blast!

As of now, April 2025, I have updated the demo to finish some previously used placeholder sprites so this demo can be preserved in a state I can be proud of.

It's sad what you just explained, but that's the bad thing about developing ambitious games, that they end up being canceled due to inexperience in development, lack of time, budget and material, precarious situations, oversaturation in competence, engine limitations & tecnical problems, loss of talented team (especially due to layoffs that occurred between 2023 and 2024), all those problems together condemn a project to be in the limbo of development hell (I know because I'm living in the same situation).

By the way, what did you have planned if you managed to complete the game?

Thanks for your comment. It is what it is! I am still very glad I have this demo out there. I'm very proud of Ghost Blast even in it's unfinished state.

I have a rough outline for the story as well as some rough sketches for most of the bosses and how they'd function. Since the player can't die by getting hit directly, the player would loose boss fights by falling out of the boss arena. Kinda like smash bros.

The game would have been about 5 worlds with 4 stages in each world, witch a new element introduced in each level. Each world would also have 2 secret stages that were a bit harder in difficulty but didn't introduce anything unique. As well as 1 boss per world

(+1)

Ok, if the game would have had up to 5 worlds, did the demo stay with only one world or maybe two?

Only 3 levels were ever actually put into the game and they're all in the demo. Not proud of the secret level in the demo though, haha. I was in a rush to get it ready for the SAGE demo.
